with a growing emphasis on fostering a culture of research and
development. At the forefront of this initiative is the All India
Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which introduced the Research
Promotion Scheme (RPS). This scheme aims to empower institutions and
faculty members to delve deeper into their fields, pushing the
boundaries of knowledge and igniting a spirit of innovation.</h1><p data-sourcepos="7:1-7:608">The RPS specifically targets
AICTE-approved technical institutions and university departments that
offer postgraduate programs in relevant fields. This ensures that the
participating institutions possess the necessary infrastructure and
academic environment to support rigorous research endeavors. But the RPS
isn’t just about the institutions themselves. It also focuses on
nurturing the research potential of faculty members. To be eligible, the
principal investigator (PI) leading the project must be a full-time,
regular faculty member with a proven track record of research experience
and publications.</p>
<p data-sourcepos="9:1-9:581">The core objectives of the RPS are
two-fold. Firstly, it seeks to create a research-conducive ambience
within institutions. This involves encouraging faculty members to engage
in projects that explore cutting-edge advancements in engineering
sciences and established and emerging technologies. Secondly, the scheme
aims to cultivate a new generation of research talent. By supporting
projects with clear deliverables, the RPS hopes to generate a pool of
qualified Master’s and Doctoral degree holders who can contribute
significantly to the Indian research landscape in the future.</p><h1 class="entry-title" itemprop="headline"> <a href="https://www.timesbull.com/trending/news/boosting-innovation-a-look-at-aictes-research-promotion-scheme-rps-2024-03-26-241858.html">Click Here:https://www.timesbull.com/trending/news/boosting-innovation-a-look-at-aictes-research-promotion-scheme-rps-2024-03-26-241858.html</a></h1>krrc-aiktchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08279430590490309018noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-702940057281704132.post-12304219967990177332024-03-22T12:33:00.000+05:302024-03-22T12:33:16.646+05:30AICTE Launches AURA Scheme To Boost Research In Technical Education<p> </p><h1 class="article-heading mb-20" id="heading-1">AICTE Launches AURA Scheme To Boost Research In Technical Education</h1><div><h2 class="slug mb-20" id="heading-2">The scheme was launched by AICTE Chairman Professor TG Sitharam at AICTE HQ, New Delhi</h2></div><div><p>The All India Council for Technical Education launched AICTE AURA
(Augmenting Utilization of Research Assets 2024 Scheme) to promote the
utilization of I-STEM (India Science Technology Engineering facilities
Map) by providing the financial aid to teachers and students in AICTE
approved colleges for utilizing I-STEM facilities and boosting research.
</p><p>"The scheme was launched by AICTE Chairman Professor TG Sitharam at AICTE HQ, New Delhi," as per a press release. </p><p>During
the launch, he highlighted that "Investing in R&D creates
opportunities for collaboration with academic institutions and research
organizations. The aim of AURA scheme is to augment existing research by
utilization of public funded hardware and software R&D facilities
mapped by I-STEM, and thereby developing a culture of research in
technical education Institutions".</p><p>Through AICTE AURA Scheme, the use of I-STEM in research will be
promoted by providing financial assistance to full time/regular faculty
of AICTE approved institutions and students of PG scholarships, ADF
fellowship and QIP scheme. The scheme is also beneficial for PG students
of AICTE approved institutions who have not availed PG scholarships. </p><p>"Under the scheme, an amount of up to Rs 2 lakh will be given to the
researcher for the use of equipment and facilities registered on the
I-STEM portal. The project will last for a maximum of two years. There
is no age bar to avail the benefit of the scheme. However, an eligible
faculty member or a researcher is eligible to use the scheme only twice
in his entire career," as per the release. </p><p>The Government of
India has been making investment in research and development
infrastructure through different ministries or departments and has
created excellent infrastructure that is spread across the country in
premier educational institutions and national laboratories. Through
pioneering efforts of the Office of Principal Scientific Advisor (OPSA),
an India Science Technology Engineering Facilities Map (I-STEM) Portal
has been established, towards enhancing the utilization of public-funded

organisation Anjuman-I-Islam, Dr. Zahir Kazi was among the recipients of
Padma Shri awards, announced on the eve of the Republic Day. In an
interview with The Navhind Times, the Mumbai-based educationist whose
heart is firmly rooted in Goa, shares his impactful journey in promoting
education, especially among the minorities for the past 40 years, and
how his days as a student in Goa Medical College shaped his
philanthropic outlook</p>

<p>A Lifelong Commitment</p>
<p>Mumbai-based educationist and a noted radiologist Dr Zahir Kazi
traces his roots to Ponda where he was born and raised. On the eve of
the Republic Day the government of India announced his name for the
fourth-highest civilian award, the Padma Shree, in the Literature and
Education category. For Kazi, the award may have been unexpected, but
the timing of its announcement was perfect for two reasons: it was the
eve of his birthday and also marked 150 years of Anjuman-I-Islam, which
runs around 97 schools, colleges, hostels, orphanages, and other
educational organisations across Maharashtra, catering to over one lakh
students, the majority of them Muslims.</p>
<p>“This is not just a personal award but a recognition of collective
efforts for Anjuman-I-Islam, which I have been associated with for the
past 40 years,” says Kazi.</p>

castes, communities, and religions. With a strong commitment to
education, it has 10,000 students and 3,500 teachers, besides overseeing
orphanages and homes for the destitute and catering to the
underprivileged.”</p><p>Prior to his association with the organisation, Kazi was attached to
several hospitals, besides having his own private setup, and Kazi says
it was his conscience that led him to Anjuman-I-Islam.</p>
<p>“During my interactions with patients, I realised that there was a
need to address the educational disparities faced by underprivileged
children. Many couldn’t afford education, and those who sent their
children to municipal- or government-run schools didn’t get the best
education they deserved, and that pinched me,” says Kazi, who started as
a member of the organisation before being elected to the governing
council.</p>
<p>He has also served as chairman of the Unani Medical College for about
12 years, where he held the posts of general secretary, chairman, and
president.</p>
<p>Talking about Anjuman-I-Islam, he says the organisation has grown
exponentially in the past 15 years. “We have undertaken several
collaborations and brought about excellence. We were in the national
mainstream with all our students. So much so, we went beyond India and
have had collaboration with MIT Boston.” This was the first such
collaboration in India. The organisation also went on to collaborate
with Westminster University, Central London, with talks presently under
way with Oxford University, the University of Maryland, and the
University of Tampa for similar collaborations.</p>
<p>“We have plans to take our campuses beyond Maharashtra, and I think the first campus will be in Goa,” says Kazi.</p>
