Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education in association with EDCIL organises Study In India (SII) workshop at AICTE
A Study In India (SII) workshop was held at the AICTE auditorium in New Delhi by the Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education and EDCIL. The goal of the training was to educate all participants, including those from different Ministries and Departments, FRROs, Indian Missions Abroad, and Compliance Officers of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), about how the SII portal operates and their individual responsibilities for maintaining it.
In accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of reviving India as a global center of education, Study in India is a flagship initiative by the Government of India. The portal serves as a single point of contact for registration and visa approvals, streamlining the entire process and allowing students to select the courses they want to do, get offer letters from the institutes, and successfully pursue their academic goals in India.
“SII programme was launched to bring cohesive and coordinated actions for easing the process of regulatory actions for any student willing to study in India with the collaboration of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs. He further added that in this Amrit Kaal period, we aim to host at least 10 million students from worldwide and our institutions need to set firm targets to ensure its fulfillment” K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Dept. Of Higher Education said speaking at the event.
Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur, commended the efforts and the leadership of the Ministries involved, and expressed, “This distinctive initiative will successfully achieve the objectives of internationalisation of higher education and fulfill aspirations of students and learners.”
Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman NETF while addressing the gathering said that the students will become the global ambassadors of Bharat and will project the country as preferred destination for Research in Higher education.

AICTE issues new guidelines for running B.E and B.Tech courses for working professionals
The professional candidates, who want to pursue the degree courses, should have minimum one year regular full time working experience..
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued new guidelines for running B.E and B.Tech courses for working professionals this academic year.
Accordingly,the eligibility for admission to the professionals workingin registered industry,organization(Central/State) or private and public limited company besides MSMEs located within 50Km radial distance from the institute.
The professional candidates,who want to pursue the degree courses,should have minimum one year regular full time working experience.
As per the AICTE norms, existing faculty in the institute or industry experts should be appointed to teach the professionals.
Additional remuneration would be given to the existing staff in the institution,who take classes for the professionals.
The regulations said that institutes should also devise a transparent mechanism for

Ministry of Education observes Literacy Week from 1st to 8th September 2023 under ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram

The Government of India has decided to organise a literacy week from 1st September to 8th September 2023 to celebrate International Literacy Day for generating awareness among all the stakeholders/ beneficiaries/ citizens about the ULLAS- Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram. The week-long literacy campaign shall enable mass participation to inculcate a sense of Kartavyabodh and Janbhagidari in each and every citizen of the nation. This vision would popularise the scheme and help us attain the goal of making India fully literate. The literacy week would encompass a spectrum of activities (given below) followed by the celebration of International Literacy Day on 8th September 2023.Another main objective will be to increase the number of registrations for learners and volunteers on the ULLAS mobile app. Students of Govt./aided schools,CBSE affiliated Schools,NVS, KVS, Teacher Training Institutions under NCTE, HEIs (Degree colleges/Technical institutions) under a University/AICTE, Scouts and Guides, NYKS, NCC, NSS Volunteers, Anganwadi Workers, Gram Panchayats, Farmers, Women, Retired Employee etc.Retired Employees, ICDS/ One Stop Centres, Members of Schools Management Committees, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Neo-literates, Non-literates, etc. and citizen of country are going to partake in the campaign.
A Centrally Sponsored Scheme ULLAS- Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram on Education for All (erstwhile termed as Adult Education), was approved by Government of India for implementation during FYs 2022-27 in alignment with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Scheme has five components, namely (i) Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, (ii) Critical Life Skills, (iii) Basic Education, (iv) Vocational Skills, (v) Continuing Education. The logo, slogan/tagline-Jan Jan Sakshar and popular name- ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) of Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram has been launched by the Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan on 29.07.2023 in New Delhi during the celebration of 3rd anniversary of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
