GATE 2022: Application process to end today, how to apply

The last date to make changes in the application is November 1 while the deadline for changing papers, categories, or exam cities is November 12 with an additional fee. On January 3, 2022, the GATE 2022 admit card will be released for download.

GATE 2022: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) application process will be closed on Tuesday (September 28) by the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kharagpur. Candidates who are willing to apply for the examination can do so online through the official site of IIT GATE at gate.iitkgp.ac.in. The GATE 2022 application process was earlier scheduled to be closed on September 24, but, it had to be extended to September 28 due to technical problems.

GATE 2022 registration: How to apply

1.     Visit the official website of GATE 2022 at gate.iitkgp.ac.in.

2.     On the homepage click on the apply online tab.

3.     Register yourself.

4.     Key in all the required details.

5.     Fill the application form.

6.     Upload photographs and all the relevant documents.

7.     Pay the application fee.

8.     Keep the hard copy of the same for future reference.

GATE 2022 Registration Ends in 2 Days; Extended Application Form till 1 Oct

During the extended registration period, candidates will have to pay Rs.500 as late fee charges in addition to the application fee.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is going to end the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2022 examination in two days i.e., September 24, 2021. So, this is a reminder for all those candidates who are yet to complete and submit the online application form. They are instructed to complete the registration formalities on the official website gate.iitkgp.ac.in to avoid any late fee charges. Beyond September 24, 2021, GATE 2022 authorities have also provided an extended period for submitting the application form. However, this period does come with a specific condition.

 What is extended period for GATE 2022 registration?

An extended period in case of GATE 2022, refers to a week or 7-day period from September 25 to October 01, 2021, to submit the online application form. However, to avail this additional time, candidates have to pay Rs.500 extra as late fee charge along with the application fee. Candidates can refer to the table given below to know difference in fee charges –

Application Fee Details

Aspirants can pay the GATE 2022 application fee through any one of the permitted online payment modes i.e., net banking, debit card or credit card or wallet. Moreover, candidates must also bear the additional bank or transactional charges while paying the application fee. To avoid the extra charges, candidates are advised to complete the application form as soon as possible and submit it on gate.iitkgp.ac.in.

Once the registration process ends, GATE 2022 authorities will go through all the applications received and display the defective ones on October 26, 2021.

Candidates will get time up to November 01, 2021, to rectify and submit their application forms. Beyond this period, IIT Kharagpur will cancel the candidature of defective applications, if any. Hence, candidates who are yet to submit their application form are advised to fill it correctly to avoid any later rectifications. Those who have already submitted their forms must visit the official website frequently for any update on their forms.

Apart from GATE 2022 form rectification, aspirants will also get time to change their paper, category or exam. This facility will remain open till November 12, 2021. To make these changes, aspirants must bear the additional fee charges. Hence, it’s better to select the correct exam centre or paper at the first instance.

According to the GATE 2022 information brochure, the exam is scheduled to be conducted on February 05, 06, 12 and 13, 2022. The exam will be held in two sessions on each day – 1. Forenoon session from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2. Afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Each candidate will be appearing for the exam as per the date, time and venue mentioned in the GATE 2022 admit card.

GATE 2022: Two new subject papers have been introduced this year for the candidates -- GE (Geomatics Engineering) and NM (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering), taking the total number of GATE papers to 29.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) will be held in February 2022. GATE, conducted for admission to masters programmes and for recruitment to some public sector companies, is held as an online computer-based test. The GATE 2022 paper will be of objective type comprising three patterns of questions -- multiple choice questions (MCQs), multiple select questions (MSQs), and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. For every wrong answer marked in an MCQ, negative marks will be cut, while for MSQs and NATs, there will be no negative marking for a wrong answer.

Two new subject papers have been introduced this year for the candidates -- GE (Geomatics Engineering) and NM (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering), taking the total number of GATE papers to 29. Eligibility criteria to appear for GATE 2022 have been expanded so that the BDS and MPharm degree holders can also be included.

Students can choose the two paper combinations from the given list of combinations of papers. The final allotment of two papers will be subjected to the availability of infrastructure and dates.

“Candidates opting to appear in two subject papers must have a primary choice of paper as their default choice. The second choice of paper has to be chosen from the allowed combinations,” read a statement on the GATE website.

The GATE 2022 administering body, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, will close the GATE application window on September 24. Students can apply online at gate.iitkgp.ac.in.

GATE 2022: Application Process Ends Soon; Check Details

Eligibility Criteria

Students who want to apply for the GATE 2022 should be currently studying in the third or higher years of any undergraduate degree program. Students who have already completed any government-approved degree program in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce or arts can also apply for the examinations.

To complete the GATE 2022 application process, students will be required to submit the following documents and details among others:

Parents’ name

Educational degrees in scanned format

Scanned current photograph

GATE 2022: Exam Pattern

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur will be conducting the GATE 2022 on February 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2022 in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode

The test will be conducted in a duration of three hours and will include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) based questions and Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. The paper will be of total 100 marks.

IIT Kharagpur will release the GATE 2022 admit cards on January 3, students can download the admit cards and check all the relevant details on it. This is also to be considered that all the processes related to GATE 2022 will be conducted online. Admit cards will not be sent by post and no application forms will be accepted through another medium rather than online applications.
