GATE 2023 registration without late fee ends tomorrow on gate.iitk.ac.in

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur will close the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023 without late fee tomorrow, September 30. Candidates can apply on gate.iitk.ac.in. 

 As per the schedule released, the last date to apply for the exam is September 30 but forms can be submitted up to October 7 on payment of late fee.

GATE 2023 application fee is 850 per paper up to September 30 and 1,350 after that for female candidates. For SC, ST, PwD candidates, it is 850 per paper up to September 30 and 1,350 after that.

Others, including foreign nationals have to pay 1,700 per paper up to September 30 and 2,200 after that to submit GATE applications.

A candidate who is currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or has already completed any government approved degree program in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts is eligible to apply for GATE 2023.

 GATE is a national level exam that tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts.

GATE 2023 will be conducted by IISc Bangalore and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee), on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE.

GATE score can be used for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to postgraduate and doctoral programmes in relevent branches.

Many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.

The Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC), (DRDO) has issued an Indicative Recruitment Advertisement in reference to the GATE-2023 Qualified Post Scientists ‘B’. The Recruitment and Assessment Centre shall soon issue a Detailed Advertisement to invite the Applications from the GATE (The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2023 Qualified Candidates duly meeting the Eligibility Criteria Scientist ‘B’ in the Defence Research & Development Organisation (

) Department of Science & Technology (DST), Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and Gallium Arsenide Enabling Technology Centre (GAETEC).

Recruitment to the Post Scientist ‘B’ in the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) that the Organisation may notify the Vacancies for Scientist ‘B’ Posts for the Year 2023 depending upon the Requirement in the Next Few Months.

Selection Methodology: Recruitment and Assessment Centre will conduct Selection to the Posts of Scientist ‘B’ / Engineer Posts based on the Valid GATE Score for Direct Recruitment of Scientist ‘B’ in DRDO. Only those Candidates, who will possess the valid GATE 2023 Score on the Crucial Date of Eligibility, will be considered for shortlisting for the Written Test/Interview.

The Direct Recruitment (DR) to the Post Scientist ‘B’ will be conducted based on a valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) Score and/ or Written test/Interview for the Vacancies in the Disciplines for which GATE is conducted, including those under Life Sciences and under Humanities/Social Sciences.

Selection Process: Selection under Category I shall be based on the 01) GATE Score; 02) Written Test and 03) Personal Interview. Selection under Category II shall be based on the 01) GATE Score and 02) Personal Interview for Appointment in the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Scientist/Engineer ‘B’ in Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), and Executive Engineer in Gallium Arsenide Enabling Technology Centre (GAETEC).

Written Examination Scheme for Part I:

The Recruitment and Assessment Centre shall conduct a Common Computer-Based Written Test consisting of 02 Papers to be conducted in 02 Sessions (Fore-Noon Session: FNS and After-Noon Session: ANS) for Total 600 (Paper I for 300 Marks + Paper II for 300 Marks) shall span 03 Hours each.

Academic Qualification:

For Subjects/Disciplines in each Part (Part-I and Part-II) are as follows:

Category I: The Candidates should have in possession the Requisite Essential Qualification (EQ) along with the valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) Qualification. Or

Category II: The Candidates should have in possession of the Requisite Essential Qualification (EQ) (i.e., Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s Degree with First Position/First Class in respective Branches) from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)/National Institutes of Technology (NITs) with Minimum Aggregate 80% Marks. The Candidates should have in possession the Requisite Essential Qualification (EQ) along with a valid the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) Qualification.

Age Limits (Category-wise):

A) Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO): Un-Reserved (UR)/Economically Weaker Sections: 28 Years

B) Department of Science & Technology (DST): Un-Reserved (UR)/Economically Weaker Sections: 35 Years

C) Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA): Un-Reserved (UR)/Economically Weaker Sections: 30 Years

D) Gallium Arsenide Enabling Technology Centre (GAETEC): Un-Reserved (UR)/Economically Weaker Sections: 28 Years

Other than General Merit Category and the Economically Weaker Sections, Relaxation in Upper Age Limit for Reserved Communities.

Detailed Selection Methodology:

i) The Recruitment and Assessment Centre shall call the Shortlisted Candidates on the basis of the GATE Scores and/or Written Examination to appear in the Personal Interview to be held in New Delhi or any other place (as decided by Research & Assessment Center (RAC)/ Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO).

ii) The Offer of Appointment to the Selected Candidates would be restricted to the number of vacancies in order of Merit. The Appointment, however, will be subject to the Candidate’s satisfying conditions like qualifying the Medical Examination (ME) prescribed for Group ‘A’ Technical Posts of the Government of India with Field Service Liability and Verification of Character Antecedents besides verification of SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD(HH)/ PwBD(LD)/PwBD(AAV)/ PwBD(Dw) Certificate, etc., wherever applicable.

iii) Final Result (customized for Individual Candidate) shall be published/displayed at the Recruitment and Assessment Centre’s Website in due course of time.

Detailed Selection Criteria:

1) For Subjects/Disciplines under Part-I :

Final Selection of the Candidates shall be Purely Based On Discipline-wise Category-wise Merit of Gross 100%; i.e., Aggregate of 80% Weightage of the Marks in the Written Examination and 20% Weightage of the Marks in the Personal Interview.

2) For the Subjects/Disciplines under Part-II:

Final Selection of the Candidates shall be Purely Based On Discipline-wise Category-wise Merit of Gross 100%; i.e., Aggregate of 80% Weightage of the Marks in the GATE Score and 20% Weightage of the marks in the Personal Interview.

3) Final Selection of the Candidates under PwBD(HH), PwD(LD), PwBD(AAV/Dw) Category against the Vacancies reserved for them in the Applicable Disciplines shall be Purely Based on the Combined Merit of Aggregate of 80% Weightage of the GATE Score and 20% Weightage of the Marks in the Personal Interview.

4) Only those Candidates securing the Category-wise / Community- specific Minimum Qualifying Marks of 70% (for Un-Reserved) and 60% (for Reserved EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwBD Community) in the Personal Interview will be considered for Preparing the Final Merit List. The Candidates who fail to qualify the Interview will not be considered for Final Selection irrespective of their Written Examination Scores (for Part-I Disciplines)/GATE Score (for Part-II Disciplines).

v) The Selection against the UR vacancies will be done first based on the Combined Merit List of all the Candidates. Filling up of the Backlog Vacancies in OBC/SC/ST category shall be taken up after exhausting the UR Vacancies.

vi) In the Merit List for Final Selection, the Candidates will be considered for Selection against the Vacancies in the Organizations (DRDO/DST/ADA) they opted for, in order of their individual Preference. They will be accommodated against the vacancies of that Organization where their Selection is Definite and will not be kept in any Wait-List of their Higher Preferences.

AstraZeneca Launches iPHARMACY Program To Up-skill Pharmacists

AstraZeneca India, a biopharmaceutical company, launched their up-skilling program for pharmacists, iPHARMACY, on Wednesday. In the first phase of this program, they have partnered with Neethi, a Kerala state cooperative consumers federation limited company, to run this program in Kerala. As a next step, the company is planning to collaborate with large pharma-retail chains from across India to expand this program to other parts of the country. 

The program will focus on inventory management, good pharmacy practices, customization of pharmacy for patient of future, and management of pharmacy during covid. The content and modules for this program are created by the team of experts from AstraZeneca and their partners, which will equip the pharmacists across India to provide standardized and quality counselling, and support to the people, the company said in a statement.

 “There is an urgent need to bridge the gaps in existing healthcare infrastructure and ensure that support reaches healthcare stakeholders and patients are empowered to address gaps thereby improving patient’s outcome. Being a patient-centric organization, we promptly identify the challenges in patient-healthcare professional (HCP) connect and swiftly develop tangible solutions with the help of technology," said Dr. Anil Kukreja, Vice President- Medical Affairs and Regulatory, AstraZeneca India.

Pharmacists being one of the major pillars of the healthcare system plays a very critical role in enabling patients to understand a disease and medications for that. By understanding that, we have partnered with leading cooperative pharmacy chain in Kerala, Neethi Medical Stores to educate and upgrade the knowledge of pharmacists for better patient outcome. Through this initiative, we are trying to bridge the knowledge gap that exists at the point of care for patients. The curriculum of this program is carefully designed to enable pharmacists to deliver essential support services and standardized counselling for patients, Dr Kukreja added.

AstraZeneca India has chosen Moodle as the learning platform to run this course. The entirety of the course module will take place digitally. The pre-requisite for every participant would be to register themselves, and subsequently a unique credential would be created for every individual to run the course. 

This e-learning mobile compatible program has four modules which can be completed at ones’ own pace. The program will remain active till end of this year for the pharmacists from Neethi. The course can be completed within this time period, further to which each student will be awarded a completion certificate by European body of CME/CPD Academy. The total number of participants from Neethi at this phase would be around 200, the company further stated in the statement.


 

 

IIIT Delhi invites applications for PhD programmes under AICTE Doctoral Fellowship Scheme 2022

IIIT Delhi is offering PhD in computer science engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and computational biology through ADF scheme.

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi has invited applications from prospective and qualified candidates for admission to the PhD programmes in computer science and engineering (CSE), electronics and communications engineering (ECE), and computational biology (CB) through the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) Scheme 2022-23. Eligible candidates can apply on the official website - iiitd.ac.in. Last date to apply for the PhD programmes is September 18, 2022.  

Eligibility Criteria

  • To be eligible to apply, a candidate must have secured the minimum percentage of 70% (69.5 % and above) for General/Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates, whereas 65% (64.5 % and above) for Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Caste (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH).
  • In the absence of percentage, the candidate must have secured minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 on the scale of 10 or equivalent at bachelors and masters whereas for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH) it is 7.0 on the scale of 10.
  • In addition to above, the candidate should have qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) / National Eligibility Test (NET) during the last 5 years.
  • The candidate should be less than 30 years of age as on date of admission in respective university. However, age relaxation of 5 years would be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST/Women/Physically challenged category.   
  • Under the ADF scheme, a fellowship of Rs 31,000 per month for the first two years followed by Rs 35,000 per month for the third year will be provided to the scholar. HRA will also be provided as per the Government of India (GOI) norms as applicable in the city or location where the research fellow is pursuing their research. In addition, Contingency Grant will be admissible to the scholars at the rate of Rs 15,000 per annum to meet the miscellaneous expenditures. Additional financial support by IIIT Delhi will also be provided for purchasing laptop, salary top-up, Overseas Research Fellowships (ORF), travel for research etc.

‘LIFEBOUY’ robots to save people from drowning at Visakhapatnam beach

In an excellent move in combination with a smart invention in Andhra Pradesh, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will introduce ‘LIFEBOUY’ robots to save people from drowning in the sea in Visakhapatnam. GVMC Commissioner G Lakshmisha on September 09 also informed about a demo was done at the RK Beach. The introduction of these robots will be a huge help for the people at the beach and will curb the number of accidents. “We did a demo today on RK Beach. They'll help in saving the people from drowning. We are looking to introduce them to make our beaches safer,” the GVMC Commissioner said.
