New Delhi, 14th May 2022: The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has decided to make engineering courses available in 12 Indian languages. For this, engineering teachers and postgraduate students will be enlisted for the translation of the curriculum which is currently available in English.
The new National Education Policy emphasizes education in the mother tongue. Therefore, AICTE had also given the option of mother tongue for undergraduate level engineering courses last year. Accordingly, some colleges across the country have started engineering courses in their mother tongue.
AICTE was entrusted with the task of translating 21 online courses out of 80 courses. Of these, AICTE has completed three first-year engineering courses, while the other three self-contained online courses have been translated into eight Indian languages. In this context, AICTE has stated that it will enlist the help of postgraduate students and teachers to complete the work of other courses.
AICTE has fixed the honorarium for postgraduate students and teachers. Students and teachers can choose the language of their choice. It has been clarified that the translators will also be given a certificate on completion of the translation work.
