In a move to empower women in the technology sector, the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has collaborated with SAWiT (South Asian Women in Tech) and GUVI. On September 21, SAWiT.AI will host the women-only Gen AI learning challenge, targeting the training of five lakh women. This initiative offers free, unrestricted online access to students nationwide. The ultimate goal is to equip 10 million women with Gen AI skills, thus fostering career advancement in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
AICTE, under the Department of Higher Education, plays a crucial role in planning and maintaining standards in technical education across India. Through this partnership, it seeks to address the increasing demand for future-ready education by integrating Gen AI training into the curriculum. This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to enhance the skilling ecosystem via the National Credit Framework and the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC).
The AICTE-SAWiT.AI partnership provides multiple benefits. Students gain Gen AI skills in six Indian languages and English, making the course accessible and comprehensive. Completion of the 15-hour Gen AI course, including Python, earns students one academic credit, enriching institutional curricula. Additionally, students can join the SAWiT hackathon in October 2024, competing for recognition and prizes. Participants are invited to join the SAWiT network, promoting professional success and entrepreneurship.
