GATE 2027 Registration Begins Tomorrow: Know How To Apply, Required Documents, Key Dates

The registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 will begin on August 27, 2026. GATE is a national-level examination for students seeking admission to postgraduate programs such as M.E., M.Tech., and Ph.D. in engineering, technology, science, architecture, and related disciplines. GATE scores are also used by several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment.

The application process will be conducted online through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal. Candidates must first register using a valid mobile number and email address and then complete the application form by providing personal, academic, and contact details. Applicants are advised to ensure that all information entered matches their official documents to avoid discrepancies during verification.

To complete the application process, candidates must upload several required documents, including a valid photo identity proof (such as Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Driving Licence), a recent passport-size photograph, a scanned signature, academic certificates or marksheets, and applicable category, domicile, or PwD certificates. Clear scanned copies in the prescribed format and size should be prepared in advance.

The last date to submit the application without a late fee is September 27, 2026, while applications with a late fee will be accepted until October 5, 2026. Candidates will have an opportunity to correct errors in their submitted applications during the application correction window from October 14 to October 21, 2026.

The GATE 2027 examination is scheduled to be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. The application fee is ₹1,000 per paper for women, SC, ST, and PwD candidates, while all other candidates must pay ₹2,000 per paper during the regular registration period. Applicants registering after the regular deadline will need to pay an additional ₹500 late fee per paper.
