The NTA has announced that the CUET 2022 exam will take place in the first two weeks of July. However, no specific date has been finalised yet.
International students seeking admissions in Indian universities are exempted from CUET. Their admissions will be carried out on the existing supernumerary basis.
The quota of reserved seats in colleges and universities will stay as it is, even under the new CUET system. “The only difference is that these students will also have to come through CUET, like students to be admitted on general seats. The reservation policies and ordinances of the universities will remain unchanged,” the UGC chairperson said.
The website dedicated to CUET 2022 will be made live on April 6. It is ecpected that the website will have an active application link and al the required information for CUET regostration.
It has been made clear by the UGC Chairman that the questions for the CUET 2022 registrtaion will be strictly limited to the NCERT syllabus, and students should ensure that they prepare well from their class 12 NCERT books, rather than joining any other coaching class.
In order to not have chaose on the registration day, candidates should keep the following documents ready:
— Class 10 and 12 marksheet
— Scanned passport size photograph
— Scanned image of the signature

In an interaction with The Indian Express, Prof Kumar tried to address some of the frequently asked questions concerning the test that will be conducted in 13 different languages. CUET is a revamped version of CUCET and it’s now compulsory for all 45 central universities to adopt it. This has come after the announcement of the new National Education Policy (NEP), which advocates the need for an entrance test for university admissions. Due to CUET, a student’s Board marks will have no role in determining her admission to a college or a programme.
The NTA has announced that the CUET UG 2022 registration will now begin from April 6, 2022. As per the official notice, the online registration for CUET 2022 will now conclude at 5 pm of May 6, 2022. Also, candidates will have time till 11:50 pm of May 6, 2022 to complete their application fees transactions through payment gateway, using debit/credit cards or internet banking or Paytm.
The wait for CUET application window continues as the official website is yet to activate the application link. As per the official document released by NTA, the registration process had to begin on April 2. However, the application link remains awaited.
CUET 2022: Attempt exam in any of the 13 languages
As per the NTA's notification on CUET 2022, the test will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Candidates can choose to attempt the test in any of the 13 languages namely Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odiya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi and Urdu. As per UGC Chairman, this will provide a level field to students of both rural and urban backgrounds.
The CUET will not rank students but will rather provide them scores. Marks scored in the class 12 board exam will not be given any weightage, however, universities have been given the option to use board exam scores in one count. For example, a particular university can say, irrespective of a candidate’s score in the CUET, their application for admission will be considered only if they score at least 60 per cent in the boards exams. But that will vary from university to university and not all of them will use board exam scores as qualifying criteria.
Experts are divided in their reactions to the UGC’s announcement on CUET being conducted in accordance with the NCERT syllabus as some felt it might put those school boards at a disadvantage where different books are taught.
Sudha Acharya, the National Progressive Schools Conference chairperson, said, “Many state boards are using NCERT books while some have their own books. The CBSE, which uses NCERT books, is more progressive towards competition. NCERT books are very standardized and they are written by renowned experts. The ICSE Board has different books and students from there might be at a disadvantage.”
