Son of a daily
wage labourer, Md. Hyder Baba, was among the six students of Rajiv Gandhi
University of Knowledge Technologies, Basar, in Nirmal district who got a gold
medal (Civil Engineering).
He along with
Banothu Aveen Kumar (Chemical Engineering), Mandha Rajani (Computer Science and
Engineering), Katoj Praveen Kumar (Electronics and Communications Engineering),
Shaik Rashu (Mechanical Engineering) and Ungarla Prem Kumar (Metallurgical and
Materials Engineering) were presented gold medals at the third convocation of
the RGUKT held at the College auditorium on Saturday.
The pass
percentage in the six categories was on the higher side with 60 students of the
73 appearing for Chemical Engineering passing the course. Similarly, 173 of the
181 appearing for Civil Engineering, 175 of the 190 appearing for the Computer
Science and Engineering, 181 of the 187 appearing for the Electronics and
Communications Engineering, 183 of the 188 appearing for Mechanical Engineering
and 115 of the 119 appearing for Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
graduated and were given away their degree certificates.

Chancellor A. Ashok delivered the convocation report and welcome address while
Director of IIT Hyderabad U.B. Desai delivered the convocation address.
Earlier, Deputy
Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari inaugurated the
administrative block building on the RGUKT premises.
