Aggrieved Medical Assistants demanded their inclusion with regard to the issuance of Pharmacy Licenses as they stand excluded as per the Central Pharmacy Act enacted recently.

Scores of such Medical Assistants assembled here at the press enclave and said that their career is now at the stake as the Central Law only caters to the degree holders like B. Pharma and D. Pharma.
“We have completed the courses of Medical Assistants, and were set to become pharmacists, but as per the Central Pharmacy Act, we stand excluded, they are providing the licences only to people with B. Pharma and D. Pharma only, thus putting our careers into jeopardy,” Muhammad Shafi Khan, a Medical Assistant said.
The protestors said that they have got all the requisites from the GMC even they have got the necessary experience certificates from the hospitals. “All that we are asking is that, it is a sheer injustice that we are excluded and are not given registrations,” they said.

They said that after completing the course, if they are not going to pursue their career then what are they supposed to do. “We have done the course in order to become pharmacists one day, but those dreams have been shattered now due to the act, which does not accommodate us,” they said.

They said that there are scores of such people who are working as pharmacists but they don’t have the required qualifications. “If they have been given the registration, why to left us out,” they said.

The Medical Assistants demands that the batch of 2019-20 should be considered for the registration as whatever development happened, happened while they were still pursuing the course. “We are appealing the Governor’s administration to look into our genuine demands and do not put our careers into the jeopardy,” they demanded.
